Nonetheless, Hunter dubs himself her protector and looks out for her in all things. A tentative friendship forms as do trust and respect.
When Sophie is taken by her ex-boyfriend and current Ridgeliner Hunter cannot deny his feelings. He works tirelessly to track her down.
Love and danger collide in this fast -paced suspenseful novel. Sophie must let go of her past to let him in and Hunter must admit that he is nothing without her by his side.
The Ridgeliners grow stronger as Hunter and Sophie travel down the bumpy terrain of falling in love when everything tells you its too dangerous.
For some reason my two favorite poets have been ever present in writing this series. I was able to pay homage to Octavio Paz and my favorite poem of all time by naming Sophie's book shop after a few words in one of the verses. Her book shop's name is The Forgotten Syllable. Here is the poem in it's entirety:
A confusion of sounds, an uncertain clarity.
Another day begins.
It is a room, half-lit,
and two bodies stretched out.
In my head I am lost
on a plain with no one.
The hours sharpen their blades.
But at my side, you are breathing;
buried deep, and remote,
you flow without moving.
Unreachable as I think of you,
touching you with my eyes,
watching you with my hands.
and blood unites us:
we are a river of pulsebeats.
Under your eyelids the seed
of the sun ripens.
is still not real;
all that is certain
is the heat of your skin.
In your breath I hear
the tide of being,
the forgotten syllable of the Beginning.
“Of course there must be lots of Magic in the world, but people don't know what it is like or how to make it.”
