How long does it take you to write a book? It varies. Iâm chronically ill and Iâm also on the Austim Spectrum. Both play a huge role in how quickly I can finish a book. With my obsessive nature that comes with tunnel vision thanks to Aspergerâs, I can finish a book in 24 hours, or if I allow myself to sleep, 2-3 weeks. But due to my chronic illness Iâm often lacking the amount of stamina or energy it takes to write a book. So one book can take me 2 weeks, and another can take me 3 months. What is your work schedule like when you're writing? I wake up, eat, writeâpossibly sleep. Anything in between is either something writing related, or itâs pure relaxation. I donât have any real schedule going for myself. I write when I want to write, and do anything else I need/want to do when Iâm not writing. What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books? I found when writing my books, I learn a lot from my characters. What theyâre going through will sometimes be parallel to the things Iâm experiencing in my day-to-day life, whether it be intentional or not. So, as I write them experiencing certain things, it gives me a new perspectiveâone I didnât have before. It helps me learn and grow as a person. How much research is involved when writing your books? Depends. With Exit Wound, I did more research on the MCâs mother than I did my MC. I did a lot of organizing for the time-line, and a little research for factual information to make my story more believable. Other stories Iâve had I do research on cities they live in, houses theyâd be moving to, schools nearby, etc. I want to immerse myself in their lives. Do you write full-time or part-time? Full-Time. Do you write every day, 5 days a week or as and when? It varies. Some weeks I write non-stop with little sleep, while others I do nothing but sleep and very little writing when Iâm awake. Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day? I aim for 2,000 to 3,000 words per chapter. Sometimes I try to do that in a day, but it can get difficult. So I try to find a good stopping point if I get overwhelmed and finish the chapter at a later time. Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you? I do a little of both. Sometimes when Iâm writing a second or third draft, Iâll outline the story. Though, sometimes the story goes into places the outline didnât have in it. So I revise the outline the best I can while my characters take me where they want to go. What is the hardest thing about writing? Writing honestly about what hurts. Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writerâs block? Let it pass. You can fight it all you want and sit at the computer and stare at the blank page, OR you can go out and do something fun thatâll distract you. Get some stuff done on your to-do list, or go on an adventure. Do something you normally donât get to do because youâve been writing. I find that keeping myself busy will result in getting back into writing sooner rather than later. Do you let the book stew â leave it for a month and then come back to it to edit? Depends on which project Iâm working on! Sometimes Iâll leave it for a couple of weeks at the most. Others Iâll let sit for a good few months. What are your views on social media for marketing? Social Media is a huge outlet for authors, and without it I wouldnât have gotten my book published! Though it does have its downfalls. I think you should be able to utilize Social Media in your author platform, but make sure you use other means of marketing as well. Character Interview Did you have a happy childhood? Why/why not? Hell no. My mother was a raging alcoholic with a touch of dementia. I grew up having to fend for myself after my brother left to become a big-time musician. Growing up sucked. Biggest secret? I got drunk the night Mackynsie died because we had been fighting for months. What annoys them? Sometimes itâs as simple as the way people are breathing. She is the queen of mood-swings and hating everyone that isnât her brother. What makes them laugh? Corny jokes and horribly made punsâbut she wonât be the first to say it out loud. What trait do you find most admirable in others? Honesty â

While I was working backstage later that evening, I heard a few new guests entering the premises. One was K.L., and the other was Ella Green. Ella Green was well known for her publicity stunts and her YouTube videos. Although I had never seen one, I was pretty sure she was here to interview the band. As for K.L., he was here for the same reason he was at the diner where we had lunch: to reel me into his world. I refused, knowing that wouldnât stop him from trying again.
âFrances, can you take Ms. Green and Mr. James to the green room?â one roadie asked me. I threw the towel I was haphazardly folding to the side, and I went to guide Ella and K.L. to the green room.
When we got there Ben was celebrating something, and he wanted me to hear it. He showed me the invitation that had been waiting for them when they got here. It was for the American Music Awards in November, and when I saw that he and the band were nominated for an award, I was just as giddy with excitement as the whole lot of them. Ben and I hugged and jumped up and down, squealing in excitement.
After we came back to our senses I said, âOh, guys Ella Green and K.L are here.â The sound of Ellaâs name struck a fire in Ben. Not a good fire either.
âIs something wrong?â I asked.
Ella was suddenly screaming at Ben. I was so confused, and so when Ella kept yelling, I yelled over her.
âShut up! What the hell is going on?â I asked.
Ben waved his hand, signaling that I should leave this alone and I ignored him.
âDonât you know?â Ella said. âI wanted to date the wonderful Ben Morrison, but he refused. He refused! Like, who refuses to date me? Iâm Ella Green for Christâs sake, Iâm the motherââ
âItâs time to shut up, Ella. I can see your ego loud and clear.â She gasped at my comment, more enraged that I even spoke to her during her outburst than the fact that my brother had refused her invitation.
âWho are you? Like, what are you even doing here? You were folding towels when I came in, youâre a little good for nothingââ
It was a reflex, and I mean it when I say thisâbut I punched her in the nose. Usually Iâm pretty good at controlling my anger, and other times I donât realize how angry I am and my reflexes take over. She was wailing like a child, and holding her head back as she stumbled around as if my punch to her nose had debilitated her ability to maintain her balance.
âDammit, Frances! Do you know who she is?â Ben was yelling at me now, and I didnât know how to react. He was rushing to get towels and ice for Ella.
After a medic checked her nose and said it was fine, she was escorted off the premises, all the while shouting about how I was going to pay for this. I was like a child stuck in the time out corner when Ben came back. My arms were wrapped around myself for safety, and I hung my head in shame.
âWhat are you doing, Bea? Do you want to get us into trouble? Sheâs a YouTube star. She could easily post a rant about this and make it go viral overnight!"
It was time to prepare for the show, and I tried to leave, except Ben wouldnât stop yelling.
âFrances, if you keep screwing things up the way you are, I'm going to regret ever bringing you on this tour! How can I show the world how wonderful my sister is if she keeps acting like a whiny, spoiled brat with an uncontrollable right hook?"
I could tell Everett was about to call him out on his behavior, but I shot him a look that told him not to.
âIâm sorry, Ben, it wonât happen again. Iâll go back to folding towels.â I had never been so isolated and demeaned in my life. So much for sibling love.

Interview with Michelle and DashDo you write full-time or part-time? Unfortunately it’s only part-time. I would love for it to be full-time one day. Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you? I have a basic outline in my head. I usually have mapped out the beginning, the end, the conflict and the climax. I have ideas where I want the story to go, but sometimes it doesn’t happen that way and things change. What is the hardest thing about writing? The hardest thing for me is finding the time to actually do it. Do you let the book stew – leave it for a month and then come back to it to edit? I do let a book stew and come back to it with fresh eyes. That usually helps me to know for sure what I love about it and what I need to fix. What’s your views on social media for marketing? Gah, social media for marketing is so hard on your own. The time it takes is exhausting, but it is necessary otherwise who is going to know about you other than your family and friends. I’ve expanded my social media outlets and it’s really helped. Character Interview DASH FORD Biggest fear? My biggest fear is having Jules wake up one day and saying she’s had enough of my crazy life. I can’t imagine my life without her and I hope I never have to. What music do they listen to? I listen to a little bit of everything. Currently I’ve been listening to The Beatles’s White Album. Are they a dog or a cat person? I am a total dog person, rescue dogs actually. Jules and I are planning on adopting one soon. What trait do you find most admirable in others? Strength to overcome obstacles that life throws at them. I especially admire this in Jules; she’s had to overcome so much and has this inner strength that leaves me in complete awe of her. What are their long term goals? Start a family with my wife. What are their short term goals? Make my wife as happy as I can while still making my fans happy as well.
âPlease welcome Anne Jolin to The Musings of Many!
How long does it take you to write a book? I have written a book in two weeks and I have written a book in six months. It really depends on the story and how well the characters seem to be cooperating. Do you write full-time or part-time? I am very blessed to write full-time and I love every second of it. Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day? When I am under deadline, I try to set an achievable word count goal for each day. It helps keep me accountable. Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you? I never used to plot. The first three books I wrote had no plotting whatsoever but now I find that if I lay out the story ahead of time, I do a better job of not getting sidetracked. Any tips on how to get through the dreaded writerâs block? READ. READ. READ. Nothing cures my writers block faster than a great book. Character Interview â Kennedy Cross Select at least 5 questions below: How old are you? Twenty-six. What is the one word you would use to define her? Quirky-cute (Is it one word if I hyphen? Haha) What are their hobbies? Watching old romantic movies (especially ones with Kurt Russell wearing blue jeans) and baking. Are they a dog or a cat person? Cat person. Do they want a job that helps people or a job that makes money? Helps people. She is a first grade teacher.

Iâd totally become a yes girl where hot guy, dad to mini hot guy, Jackson Steele was concerned.
So that brings me to now, turning off my ignition and willing my body to move from the safety of my driverâs seat and up to his front door.
Itâs okay though. Iâve come prepared. Iâd written a list of things not to do when I arrived at the house on a yellow Post-it note.
1. Donât hyperventilate
2. Donât sweat
3. Donât touch him
4. Donât say the word âpenisâ or any of its synonyms or any parts of the male anatomy in general
5. Donât drool
Putting force behind the fist Iâd raised to knock on the door I immediately begin to fall forward as the offending panel of wood swings inward and I face plant directly into a hard male chest.
Rats! There goes rule number three and quickly too.
Mmm. But he sure smells nice.
âEasy, babe,â his voice is a deep manly chuckle, large hands settling on my waist.
I feel that âbabe,â that chuckle and that contact in all the right places, even a tingle or two in some wrong ones if Iâm being honest.
Considering Iâm relatively close to the brink of insanity this morning, it isnât all that surprising that in that second, instead of pulling away, I take the opportunity to tilt my head back and look at him, really look at him, for the second time since weâd met.
Big mistake.
Should have added a sixth rule. Donât look at him either.

- ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Anne Jolin -
Hey yâall,
I was born and raised in Ladner, a small farm town just outside Vancouver, Canada. I grew up riding horses, shooting guns, and driving in trucks.
I never expected to be an author. A massage therapist? Yes. Take over the family construction company? Yes. But an author? No. Writing was something that snuck up on me and rooted itself into my life. It was beautiful to discover that love, and Iâm truly grateful to say Iâve found my passion.
Since Iâve always been a creative person, it feels amazing to harness all of that energy and use it to tell a story I love. I enjoy incorporating bits of my real life into the stories I write. What parts are true? Hah. Iâll never tellâwhat would be the fun in that?
If I could leave yâall with one thing, itâs that lifeâs far too short to not live it out loud. Drown in your passions, hold on tight to the things that inspire you, and chase your dreams relentlessly. I can promise you without a doubt that you wonât regret it. I know I donât.
Mad love,
Anne Jolin

(To wet your appetite for more)
Jax flung his fist through the air, landing a punch to the side of Reed’s face which was already bloodied and bruised. For the last two hours Reed’s face had been Jax’s personal punching bag. All he could see was Kim’s face—her eyes, her mouth, and all her delicate features haunting him every second since they realized that she was gone. How the fuck had he let this happen? He was supposed to keep an eye on her, protect her. But he knew something was up when Reed and Lexi disappeared, and there was no sign of Levi. Fuck! It wasn’t his intention to let her out of his sight for so long, but when he got upstairs and saw Reed pointing a gun at his brother, he had to act. Somewhere in the back of his mind he thought that Kim would have been okay surrounded by hundreds of other people in the club. But he was so fucking wrong. He had underestimated Baptiste, and now Kim was paying the price. He never should have come to Manhattan. He never should have sought out his brother’s help. But he had no one else to turn to, no one else who could help him. For years, he had done deals for Baptiste. Deals which involved diamonds, drugs, and illegal firearms. And then Baptiste had tried to force him into doing deals which involved the one thing Jax’s moral compass did not allow—human trafficking. Now, because Jax had refused to do one deal for Baptiste that involved an eighteen-year-old girl being sold into slavery, Kim’s life was hanging in the balance. Baptiste was forcing his hand by kidnapping her and holding her as leverage to insure that Jax would cooperate. And the douche Jax was currently using as a human punching bag was not helping him get any closer to rescuing her. With another swing, and another punch, Jax yelled at Reed, “Where is she?” It felt like the rage inside him wanted to claw its way out of his chest. Not knowing where the hell she was, what they’d done to her, and even if she was still alive, made him feel like he was about to rip his own skin off. With blood-stained teeth, Reed smiled, his eyelids drooping from the beating Jax had dished out. “You will never find her.”

Add to your Goodreads TBR NOW Available on:Liquid Silver Books | Amazon | KOBO | iBooks | Barnes and Noble Excerpt from Seduction in Seville, The Men of FTI Book Two Madison remembered staring up at him after he had extended his hand to her, and preparing herself for what was to come. What she’d assumed was going to come. But it never had. It had been his eyes that had brought her back. They were the most mesmerizing emerald green. They shone in his face like a lighthouse would during a terrible storm. His eyes, like the lights, meant safety. He had, very gently, taken her hand and lifted her to her feet. Madison had averted her gaze then. She had been afraid to hope, thinking them coming to rescue her was some sick psychological game. He hadn’t touched her, but dropped his face so his gaze could reach hers. “You’re safe now,” he’d said as a small, gentle smile played at his lips. “You’re safe now,” he repeated. She remembered throwing herself into his arms and sobbing. The man had moved his body away from hers, not allowing them to touch other than her arms around his neck and her face buried there too. All she had thought to say had been “thank you,” so she’d repeated it over and over again. He’d stood that way with her for a long time. Madison hadn’t given any thought to how she might have looked or, worse, smelled. She’d stood there crying uncontrollably and rejoicing that it was over. Eventually, the exhaustion of being there for as long as she had, the exhaustion from constantly fighting for survival, the exhaustion of having given up, hit her, and her knees had begun to give out. He’d walked her to the stairs, and somehow he knew those stairs seemed too high. Too daunting. So he’d told her, “I’m going to pick you up, okay?” She could only nod, her face still pushed into his neck. He had scooped her up as if she’d weighed nothing. Madison remembered being placed in a Jeep and the man gently buckling her in. He had begun to close the door and seemed ready to walk away, but Madison had protested. “Please...could you stay with me?” Her voice had been soft and weak. She had been so tired. He’d glanced over at another man who was orchestrating arrangements for the rest of the women who had been saved. They had been creating a triage, of sorts. Those who’d needed urgent care and had been the worst off were in Jeeps equipped with stretchers, and two or three other women, like her, had been put in cars. There were some who had been carefully placed on stretchers with blankets over their bodies and faces. Madison hadn’t wanted to look to see where they were going. The guy who was clearly in charge had cast a glance over at her and nodded. Then the man who’d saved her climbed in the backseat and buckled his seatbelt as the car started and they’d begun to drive away. Bouncing down the unpaved road had jarred her injuries. She’d tried to stay quiet. Even at that point, leaving that awful place, she hadn’t been entirely convinced that this was real. But he had heard her quiet gasps. He’d looked over at her and placed his arm around her shoulders and effectively held her in place so that the bumps along the road did not jar her as much. It had been then she’d noticed the scar. Her rescuer had a scar that ran the length of his face. It was almost a perfect diagonal, cutting across his left cheek, going through his top lip and down into his bottom. It was thin but looked no less viscous. How had he gotten that kind of a scar? But before Madison could give the question any real thought, her eyes had grown heavy, and she focused her energies instead on staying awake. She had been terrified to fall asleep. She had been afraid if she’d closed her eyes she would wake up once again in the basement. As if reading her mind, he had turned toward her and whispered, “You’re safe now. You don’t have to be scared anymore. You’re safe, I promise.” And with that, her eyes had shut. She hadn’t voluntarily touched another human being in months. But she’d wanted him near her. So she’d laid her head on his strong shoulder and slept. She’d woken in the hospital a few days later. Emerald Eyes had been gone. And now, eight years later, it was her turn to save him. |
